The Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii

Aloha!

The Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii is proud to be a strong supporter of the Hawaii State Department of Education's Senior Project Program. The Chamber has entered into a public-private partnership with the Department of Education in helping to provide mentors from the business community to high school seniors, so that they are better prepared and ready to enter a highly competitive and challenging work force.

High school seniors who have accepted the challenge of achieving the Special Recognition Diploma must complete a Senior Project. Not only is each high school senior who is completing a Senior Project required to have a community mentor but volunteers are also needed to serve as community judges or panelists during the seniors' oral presentations. Many high schools would also benefit from the support of a volunteer Community Coordinator who can serve as a liaison between the community and the school's Senior Project program. Technical consultants who have expertise in a particular subject or field can also provide valuable short-term assistance when students need guidance.
